by Chuck Purnell 8 years ago
I have some footage that was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II camera. I used Mpeg Streamclip to convert the clips over to Apple ProRes 422 (LT) 23.98. In FCP 7, my settings are as follows: Sequence Preset

Hi Chuck! Chuck Purnell "One more question. If I do change the codec from within FCP do you think I would have to go back to Mpeg streamclip and convert the clips all over again with a new conversion
Automatically Moving Audio Pan From -1 to 0...?
by Evan Seitz 8 years ago
Is there a shortcut for this or a hotkey to automatically fix it When ever I put in a new audio track or footage with audio attached, the pan automatically moves to -1 and it's always a bother to go i

I have now officially become disgusted with twenty-somethings and think I'm done giving them any consideration ever again. 1) Very talented art director wannabee whose work I was introduced to while j

Is the problem with Gen-Y specifically, or is it just about being 20-something I wonder if it seems like it's "20 somethings these days" because you are now in a position to be hiring them and be conf

I've got three options for you! One that we use at work is called Interdubs. They have all kinds of features, I haven't really scratched the surface yet, but it has a web interface, delivery receipt,

So I recently graduated (Spring '10) with a degree in Telecom. I've been writing for this site for several months and recently shot and edited a documentary-style short for them, about 7min long. They

I say go for it with maybe three caveats; 1) never let these low level jobs take away from your hunger to find and go after better, more rewarding work (both financially and opportunity-wise). 2) Find

As far as I know, I don't think it is possible. I would love to be proven wrong though... _Ross _______________________ You Down With FCP
"Ghost" frame shows up in export and playing timeline
by Steve Crow 8 years ago
Hi, I've had this happen a few times and have never solved the issue satisfactorily...it is almost like FCP is holding a frame or two in cache that used to be in the timeline and never completely flus

One other thing you can do is to turn the rubber bands on, turn the opacity of the problem clip down, force a render, then turn them back up and re-render. Sometimes forcing that re-render helps to cl
How to batch multiple FCP timelines in Compressor?
by Errol Lazare 8 years ago
I have 10 timelines in Final Cut that I need to compress to DVD using compressor. Each timeline is average 2 hours. My question is how do I add all 10 timelines to compressor to do a batch compression
Re: How to batch multiple FCP timelines in Compressor?

Errol, If you have fcp6 or higher you can use "send to compressor" instead of the older method. That will let you batch multiple sequences, but not let you preview them as fcp is busy feeding compress
Import Video question

Hi Jerry, I'm not sure if this answer is 'beneath' your question, but the simplest way to get 'proper' project settings for your imported footage is to drag a clip into an empty timeline and let final
I would like to use another application while FCP plays?
by stephen barnes 8 years ago
I would like to take notes on the footage in a Word document, but every time I click out of Final Cut, the footage stops playing. I don't think there's a way around this, but I thought I'd ask here. D

Chris, I think the timeline behaves differently than the capture window. I've done the same thing while capturing, but it won't let you switch focus without stopping playback on the timeline. _Ross __
Managing large ProRes 422 files

Hi David, If you really wanted to then you could render out a half res (or lower) proxy in prores, edit, and then reconnect the full res prores versions of the footage used at the end. The problem is
ProRes 422 vs. FCP 5.0.4

Hallo folks, I sincerely apologize in advance to anybody I may or may not irk with the banality of this post. I know you've heard this topic a million times before, and I've followed your FCP vs. ProR

One suggestion in case anyone else follows in your footsteps would possibly be to re-encode the h.264 or the prores files to animation. You could relink the footage and keep limping along. Any amount
