I have edited several weddings on my mac power book with snow leopard, FCP 7 and compressor. Shot with Sony Z7U & Sony EX1 at 1080i 60i. I have a Matrox Mini with Max attached to my computer as well.

I don t know if this will help but if you go into Premiere Pro and under Sequence Settings Click on Playback Settings and untick Create Audio Conform and PEK files.
Converting wmv on os x leopard

I have flip4mac studio pro and have been running tests on converting a 30min .m2t 1440x1080 file to 1280x720 wmv9 advance filr. Even using compressor it takes 0ver 8 hours. My specs are 2x2.8ghz xeon

you can actually import projects into a current project and it shows up as a bin, not exactly the same as fcp but close.

Jonny, The best way around this is to copy the entire contents of the sony HD folder (hopefully you copied the entire folder intact with directory structure) on your desktop to an external USB drive,
