The "correct" way is to build a piece of 3D geometry in an app like C4D, texture it with your content, and place it in the correct point in 3D space. If you have Mettle FreeForm Ae, you could use that

I've only had to work with R3Ds. Usually user error. One file got corrupted in my 9 years working with that format. I stayed away from the new DNxHD ProRes options.

We are using a few Canon DSLR Zooms with the EVA1s. The basics like 24-105 f4 and 24-70 f2.8. We use ours on a Helix Jr. so no big zooms Not sure if that helps.

If you do run into the situation where the Audio is drifting out of sync with the Video this is what I have done in the past. Use ProTools to do a Sample Rate Conversion from 24 to 23.976fps. The nice
