by Zopiro da Tracia 3 years ago

I'm looking to create a workflow for a big project (documentary) that I plan to edit on a Mac with Premiere. I calculate that there will be over 60h of footage, shot with a XAVC-S camera, a Long GOP c

Do you know how it's different from FCP7, for example I remember I could open huge projects with Final Cut and editing wouldn't be sluggish at all.

by Zopiro da Tracia 3 years ago
I remember a couple of years back that most DCPs were delivered in USB2 disks formatted in either Ext2 or Ext3, and this was standard practice. Is this still a thing, or will film festivals accept a .

Having recently migrated from an Apple Final Cut Pro 7 system to Premiere, a feature that I greatly miss is the hability to simply press Cmd+R on a selection and it would be perfectly rendered for pla

It's keyboard mappable too. I think I usually set mine to something like CMD+Enter. Alex
Tips to speed-up Premiere's handling of dynamic-linked AE comps?
by Zopiro da Tracia 5 years ago
I'm struggling with setting proxies on AE. It's better, but still not fast enough. In order to have decent editing timeline playback, I have to constantly re-render the segments which are AE comps. Ca

This is weird. I got Premiere CC2014 and this feature does not show up in Premiere at all.

I've got a multicamera project setup and synchronized with Pluraleyes. Is it possible to automate the editing process The way this was filmed, it's fine to cut randomly from one camera to the other, o
Audio tricks for video editors?
by Zopiro da Tracia 5 years ago
I'm a somewhat experienced video editor who has at most of my career had an audio guy nearby to work on sound design, effects and cleanup. For some freelance projects, however, there's nobody to do th

I was thinking more on the lines of how to do a proper mix on Final Cut or Premiere. My work is mostly interviews, talking heads, and music as a background. Occasionally there are some sound effects.
FCP and After Effects Windows: best codec?
by Zopiro da Tracia 6 years ago
I still do a lot of FCP7 editing using Apple ProRes codec on my Mac. Since I recently acquired a very fast PC, I plan on using it for work on After Effects CS6 (soon CC). I'll be moving rendered files

Final Cut Pro misinterprets the gamma on RGB formats. Import the clip into FCP. Select the clip, then hit Cmd-9 to open Item Properties. Right-click the gamma value (normally set to Source) and set it
New to AE/Windows, completely lost codec-wise
by Zopiro da Tracia 6 years ago
I'm used to After Effects on Mac, and usually have go-to codecs for every project. This time I have to work on a Windows PC, a very fast and reliable machine, but I'm completely lost as to what codecs

I use AIC mostly due to small file sizes. Never tried other flavors of ProRes besides HQ! Animation is a pain to transfer between machines. Things will get easier now that I fitted them both with giga
