Yes, doing VFX work on top of a final grade is a bad idea. Have you tried setting the AE project Working Space to none, and 32bpc Then when you bring in your EXRs and R3D, preserve their RGBs. You'll

Footage Becomes Brighter in Composition

I am in the newest version of After Effects CC. I have a Prores 4444 file. When I open it on it's own in After Effects, it looks normal. When I put it into a new comp, it is much brighter and flatter.

Since your file is in 4444, does it have an alpha channel Perhaps you are seeing its transparency when you put it in a comp. I know you said it was a new comp, but is the project a new project Is your

If your camera is locked off, I would just use photoshop and create it as a matte painting that you just import into AE. Or am I missing something here
