Hi,

I am using Final Cut pro 7 with Black Magic Deck link Studio 2 full 10 bit SD/HD SDI, HDMI and Analog editing card. In future, I will be using un compressed HDCAM, RED files and all sorts of professional format to produce broadcast quality work.

Presently, I am using 600 GB internal HD drive for storage of my footage. Do you think I should add an external fire wire 800 Drive? Or go for a Raid ? . There are several RAID options from G SPEED and Cal Digit(HD Element). Please suggest any solution for smooth playback and workflow. One of my friend has suggested me to have an additional 800 firewire drive with a raid controller card but a lot of people a suggesting to go for a RAID. Kindly check these links;

My system details are;

Model Identifier: MacPro4,1

Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon

Processor Speed: 2.26 GHz

Number of Processors: 2

Total Number of Cores: 8

L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB

L3 Cache (per processor): 8 MB

Memory: 8 GB

Processor Interconnect Speed: 5.86 GT/s

Boot ROM Version: MP41.0081.B08

SMC Version (system): 1.39f5

SMC Version (processor tray): 1.39f5

I need atleast 4-5 hours of uncompressed HDCAM and RED fIles on my external drive. Do you think a single external drive will work with a raid controller card. Please check the above links and let me know which on is the most economical option.Cheers

Hi, I am interested in reading about how one can shoot video and have the signal go out of the camera via HD-SDI and capture directly into a Mac. I would assume the signal would go into the Mac throug

Pretty simple actually. HD-SDI from the camera into the Kona3. Open Log & Capture in Final Cut, set the capture preset. Make sure the Kona is set to the proper input. Make sure you see video in the L&
