is it possible in a script to target a specific comp layer without having that comp selected in the project window ?

I'm new to AE scripting, but I'm thinking the answer to my question in the subject line is "no." and seeking confirmation or denial... It seems like there is no obvious way (in a script) to directly t

The After Effects scripting guide has a very loosy description of app.project.activeItem. If you follow it, you might think it is only determined by the panel selection, but it's not. It seems to be d

Here is an attempt to make it more compact. Not sure it actually brings something though. Your expression is more readable. Xavier Px=transform.scale 0 .value > 0; Px true <==> positive xScal
app.executeCommand() for 100% Zoom

Hi forum, What is the code app.executeCommand() for 100% zoom, or key " ". Anyone can help Thank you
Re: app.executeCommand() for 100% Zoom
by Xavier Gomez 3 months ago
You can do it without a menu command, using the viewer object: if (app.activeViewer) app.activeViewer.views 0 .options.zoom = 1.0; (it can't be used to "Fit up to 100%" though, only absolute values).

In theory, how many times will this code run

Hi OK. A crazy Friday experiment. Basically I'm trying to optimise the way I execute expressions. It doesn't really matter what the code does, this is about the structure of it. I have a text layer. I
Re: In theory, how many times will this code run

What is sure is that the string is build at least once for the text layer, and is evaluated three different times, once per shape layer. Now, is the string rebuilt everytime it is required by one of t

You'll probably have to store the layer selection, deselect all layers except the one you want, use the command, and eventually reselect. Xavier

Re: Remove all keyframes by script

Maybe have the script select all keys on the property, then delete. You could call delete as a menu command. Then you wouldn't have to loop.

If what you are after is expressions and not graph editor, there is this script:http: aescripts.com ease-and-wizz . It has a good collection of ease functions other than the AE default ones. But i'm n

Assuming that : 1- your script has already identified the layer (let's call it theLayer), 2- your script has a string variable (called say expr) that contains the expression text, you can go on like t
