I've never had the satisfaction with my Canon A1's that I got using my DVX100. I suppose it's a softer image but it always made me look better than I was whereas the A1's tend to do the opposite. Fare

DV-AVI is what you'd use. Having said that, your DVD will look better if you encode an MPEG-2 and AC-3 streams out of Vegas and give those to DVD Architect.

Get the XH-A1 at $3300. It's truly the most camera you can get for the money at this point in time and you will have it for more than 2 years, thus justifying the additional $1300. Either that or hang
