You shouldn't be editing variable frame rate video. You should be transcoding it to a fixed frame rate. Preferably something the edits well like Prores or DNxHD HR, not h264. TC

you might have to click on the little icon in the upper left of the timeline that looks like layers with a strike line thru it. if left unchecked you just get all the layers instead of the nest.
