I feel like a lot of praise for Final Cut Pro X is coming from ProSumers and Fan Boys. Seriously, I have a company and we have invested in 10 suites for FCP for editorial and lots of other things. Wha

I agree. I've been back on Avid for several years after moving from commercial into television and the newer Avid leases remind me of the old days when FCP was truly innovating. I'm going to hold out
Export clips from timeline one by one

Hi, I would need to export edited clips from timeline one by one. The footage is XDCamEX1, output format should be h264... Is this possible in FC Thanks
Re: Export clips from timeline one by one

In your timeline, select all the clips and drag them into a new bin. Now just use Batch Export to kick them out individually. It will use the in out points from the clips as they are in the bin. Todd
QuickTime mpeg-2 playback

I realize that as of FCP Studio 2, mpeg-2 encoding is not included in QuickTime anymore; it's only available in Compressor instead. However, I hadn't realized that QuickTime won't even play mpeg-2 fil

Final Cut Pro Rendering

Sounds to me like something is corrupt in the sequence you are trying to render. The way I deal with that here is to start rendering sections of your sequence at a time until you find the area that is

I would suggest picking the format that you want your final product to be, then render everything into that format and cut away. Personally, I would suggest Apple ProRes at around 720P. You can run al

You probably need reference going to the deck through SDI. If you don't have house sync at your facility, you can have the Kona generate sync for you. Under the AJA control Panel, click the "Control"

Be sure to go to "Displays" under System Preferences and setup that display to the 640x480 setting. It is probably trying to send a larger signal to that display via the DVI out. You might also try cl

New Macbook - Deliberately hobbled?

FWIW, lack of FireWire on the MB is a Deal-Breaker for me. The end. I'm sticking with my last-gen white MB. It handles FCP just fine BTW, even though is isn't technically compatible. I do not use Moti

I would have to say that AVID is much slower to learn than FCP. If you have experience with linear editing, then AVID will make sense to you in that aspect, but if you have only edited on FCP you are

You need to use an "uncompressed" codec. It would be great if you had the codec that you will be using natively in the new NLE to export to, but in a pinch you can always use QuickTime's "Animation" c
