Which bit depth does DaVinci Resolve grade in?
by Juan Juig 4 months ago
Hello, when grading in DaVinci resolve, the values on the scopes are displayed on the scale from 0 - 1023, meaning that colours are previewed as 10bit. Does DaVinci always previews colours this way If

Processing is at 32 bit, unless using performance mode, when it is less (I think 16 bit) for playback only. All rendering processing for delivery is 32 bit unless I'm mistaken.

workflow to import XML full of .MTS clips into resolve
by Mathew Farrell 3 years ago
Hi folks I'm trying to import a premiere pro project into resolve 12.5. Simple enough normally, except this project is made up of .MTS (AVCHD) files, so Resolve throws a wobbly and can't handle them.

The only alternative to doing what you say and cutting up a preconformed export would be to consolidate the clips in the sequence and re- wrap the files using clipwrap, relink to those clips (or possi

"disble input sizing" option gone for XML/AAF scaling?

Is this gone or somewhere else. I'd normally right click on a clip in the timeline in the Color Tab and check this if I wanted to remove offline scaling. Thanks for any help!

It's under the Edit page now. Click on a clip in the timeline, and then hit the ltitle icon with a wrench and paint brush and it will reveal those parameters, which you can click the dot to disable, o

Great reply. As for YUV RGB, wouldn't the FCP timeline settings specify the output Ie if source is YUV and sequence RGB then FCP would handle the conversion. Is it even possible to get dual link RGB 1

Where/When are 'Track' nodes processed?
by Toby Tomkins 7 years ago
Can anyone confirm if they are processed at the end of the chain, after the clip nodes , and so can be used for display LUT purposes if wanted Thanks, Toby

Yes they are processed at the end of all clip level corrections, and any multi-layer composites, etc.

Thanks Liam. I'll look into those vendors. I also think a 4.5TB 3 disk raid 0 (3x 1.5TB) with a 4TB backup (2x2TB) would be very cheap and fairly redundant (time machine backup at lunch and day close)
