Figured it out. Under Sequence Settings Render Control Render&Playback there's an option to show filters.

Live Type Fonts

I'm importing fonts from Live Type into my FCP HD timeline. They look terrible (rough edges), nothing like the live type .mov by itself. I exported at the same ratio (720x480) and field (lower(even)).
