Stay away from Compressor for deinterlacing. It's not a very good job and takes FOREVER. My best conversions have been with JES deinterlacer. Take your 29.97 interlaced footage, dump it into JES, and

Squeeze is (correctly) constraining the dimensions to be exactly divisible by 4, 8 or 16. Quicktime H.264 isn't so fussy and as such would result in a lower quality result.____________________________

You can get a Gen10 that will send tri sync and bi sync to the corresponding decks at the same time. If not, set your dbeta deck to ref incoming video. That being said, getting a Gen10 will allow for

All my experience with P2 media has been very good, up until now. A recent P2 greenscreen shoot has had some issues. Shot as 720 24p (Native) with an HPX-500. The green bg measures about 60 to 70 IRE.

Sounds like the gain on the cam got turned up. That sucks if it's the case because Panasonic (and most others) get grainy fast at increased gains. Have you tried choking the key using the matte choker
