I believe it would also depend on whether you are exporting as a self contained movie or a reference movie. If you are exporting as a reference...it will always look for the FCP timeline to "reference

If I'm not mistaken here...once you output to the .mpeg compression for DVD...it should play just fine on any DVD player. Even most EU players are cross compatible with pal ntsc as long they were made
