I found a solution! Go into working linked timeline, Select all clips, right click, Modify Audio, Number of Audio clips 4, tick left right like the default audio, save project and relink again

From reading your post it sounds like you've aged with the file structure of the media. This is something you should never do when shooting I'm a card format. The only way to fix it is to recreate it

I agree that using masks is probably the best way to go. Just step on the layer you want to mask delete parts of, and press the "add vector mask" button. Make sure you have another layer under the one

The HDMI port sends out a full raster uncompressed 1920x1080 (4:2:2) digital HD video before the HDV compression. Your camera's native recording then compresses it to 1440x1080 (4:2:0) @ 25Mbps CBR 60

I don't know the specifics of that camera but it records HDV format to tape so use the HDV capture preset in the FCP Easy Setups to capture via firewire. This will capture as 1440 x 1080 but display
