Thomas Leong 5 years ago
Quite a few things there Alex.
1. Your icons in Media Pool, etc. Not sure what you did, but try View > reset user interface.
2. The Panasonic PT- DW6300ELK projector has a built-in soft-edge blend feature. Use this to 'merge' your 3 screens into one seamless panoramic. The hardware soft-edge feature of the Panasonic will do a better job than the software-based soft-edge blend feature of Wings Platinum (found under Screen 1 > Display X > enable Soft-edge Mask).

3. Since your required on-screen resolution is 3840x1024, that is exactly 3 x 1280 wide by 1024 high. There is no soft-edging required in this resolution.
For the centre projector to 'run' into the left and right (the correct term is 'overlap'), your wide resolution must be less than 3x1280. For example, if you want a 20% overlap, then 20% of 1280 = 256 so you must minus 256 from the left 1280 screen-width, and the right 1280 screen-width. Your centre projector will overlap 256 pixels into the left and 256 into the right, leaving only 1280-512 without any overlap for the centre projector. So you total Screen Width is 3840-512=3328, and your height 1024.
You can easily setup this 3328x1024 Screen up with the Wings Wizard, entering 3 Displays each 1280x1024 and an overlap of 256, and see the result in the Preview Screen pane by right-click inside the pane and choose 'display multidisplay frames'.

It is a bit difficult explaining the whole process here. Try the Help Files in Wings and step through the Tutorial under 'Multidisplay shows'. Though the tutorial is for 2 Displays only (Master + 1 Slave), you should get the general idea how soft-edge overlapping works.

4. The MatroxTH2Go will not do soft-edge blending. You have to 'cheat' it. After you have created the full screen video of 3328x1024, you have to Output from Wings three Videos - one for each Display.
Next you create a new Project that is 3840x1024, and insert the 3 videos, one into left, centre and right, and Output again combining these 3 videos back into one file - you will see 'repeats' because of the 256 overlap areas.
Finally, feed this one combined file to the Matrox and the 3 projectors, but you align the projectors to overlap at the 20% mark.
To find this 20% overlap mark, easiest way I can think of is to use a Still picture or still graphic rather than a video first. Try using the Stumpfl supplied pattern_original.jpg alignment picture included in their Media Samples. If you do not have that, sign up to my defunct (not active) http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/multidisplays/ and I'll approve your membership, then go to Files and download it from there. The question is - how to set the attenuation on the adjacent edges of the video to each screen
Thomas Leong 5 years ago

Yes that is correct, except that the soft-edge mask should be left out when creating the files IF you are going to use the Pansonic projectors' soft-edge blend feature. Next create a new project of 38 [more]

Hi Thomas! Hope you are OK, I am fine. Working with WP 4, just finished a part of the show: six projections showing six portraits (2 MatroxTH2go connected to 2 VGA outs), I used two “Screens” 3072x768 resolution, and two files with the same resolution. In the beginning, I made one movie from three movies: combine them and then “Output”-“MPEG”. This was very cool because it is fast and in my case every portrait has a border (1024x768) , and of course without your help I doubt that I will do anything… I appreciate your help so much! Now, I want to made one projection 3840x1024, and don’t know how… So, I got MatroxTH2go, three video projectors – Panasonic PT- DW6300ELK, server with one VGA out, WP 4 and lots of patience. I guess that I must combine my projections, for example – my center projection run into left and right projections, and on this… my head explodes. Can I do it with Matrox, will it work, what must I do with WP4 what kind of options should I use in it, how to set up screen(s) display(multydisplay area(es)) what are my video file resolution (I need 3840x1024), or it will be three files (how should I cut it, what resolution of every piece), how WP 4 smooth the brightness at the junction, does, if it will needs, my projectors do calibration of the junction? Thomas, would you be so kind and explain all of this to me. Can I do it with this software and hardware I have?
Thank you very much!
