Yes, you should investigate adding an external field monitor to your camera, it will provide different resolution overlays grids to use to help you with your framing. They are getting much cheaper now

If you want sharpness like you get with the Hv20 on your DSLR, use a slow aperture of F8 or smaller and make sure if you are using a custom picture profile setting that the sharpness level is turned a

I agree 100% with Ryan. H.264 is a great format to deliver your video but it's really bad to edit in unless all you are doing is simple cuts and nothing else. ProRes is my choice too - the ProRes file
