NTSC for international distribution

I live in Pal land and wonder why studios produce Pal DVDs for sale in Pal regions when NTSC ones are regarded as internationally playable even on Pal players I can understand the reason for Region Co
Re: NTSC for international distribution

Thanks for the clarification Daniel. I've decided to stick with a Pal DVD release for the moment, as I did with my first film, as it's largely a UK audience product. Going the NTSC route would save so
Preparing for DCP from FCP 7
by Sofia Marmorstein 4 years ago
Hello all, Mine is more of a general request for advice more than a specific issue. We are working on a feature doc and we have recently gotten the list of deliverables from our distribution company.
Re: Preparing for DCP from FCP 7
by Michael Gissing 4 years ago
With Resolve you have to set the project info first and not change it so an xml from FCP7 will set the wrong frame size. So use Media Manager to create a 2k project from your HD proxies in FCP7 first.

There are no standards in place so each player has it's own implementation. As a side note re. making mp4... don't use Compressor v3 that comes with FCP7 - it's out of date compared to Compressor v4 a
Lite v7 or v8 ?

Would anyone like to share a v8 Lite or v7 Lite, or confirm whether or not they ever existed I'd like to learn Resolve but am not ready to upgrade my hardware just at the moment.
Re: Lite v7 or v8 ?

I have not tried to install 10 because I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that it would not install in Mac OS 10.6.6. I just went to the BM website and looked up the "minimum system requirements" versions in

I was hoping to try a version 8 Lite as that's the last one my system can handle (Mac OS 10.6.6) - is there a particular reason why there is no v8 Lite available for download, only v7 and then v9 onwa

FCP7 and OS update compatability
by Stephen de Vere 7 years ago
I'm running FCP7 and OS 10.6.6 on a 2008 MacbookPro and worried about the update to 10.6.8 because I am in the middle of a 70min doco edit. Is there somewhere I can check compatability
Re: FCP7 and OS update compatability

Thanks to both. I clone all my media drives and my system drive regularly with CCCloner but restoring the OS drive I would prefer to avoid. I only began thinking I should stop ignoring the update to 1

Re: 5DtoRGB - why?

Yes, the ProRes files have some minor quirk that means Cinema Tools (I am on v5.5.1 and FCP7) can't conform them either. I have v1.5.10 (64 bit) 5DtoRGB can do the conform to the frame rate you want b

Yes, just discovered BD is limited to 8-bit 4:2:0 - same as DVD - so any advantage is only in data rate which, like you say, assuming a good encode, will be very marginal.
