using an internal drive and constantly moving it back and forth between machines is a recipe for trouble. FW800 comes close to maxing most drives, and I've personally edited DVCPRO HD 1080p30 and XDCA

I'm not a colorist but I'd assume that "getting it in the ballpark" would either do nothing to help the colorist or, more likely, would actually get in his way and slow him down. Just like it's normal
