There are some DV cameras that can play back DVCAM tapes and some that don't. It sounds like yours "almost" plays it Perhaps it's made to only read it well enough to play back over the analog outputs

Thanks for the reply Dave! In response to your question, no, I don't think sd dvds look bad but I geuss that is the point. Even when I export it using a 720x480 ntsc quicktime movie it still looks way

If you own FCS 2, have a closer look at Color, it offers more tools for this job. That said, it will never be easy with a recording format that is seriously degrading color information like DV or HDV.

That is correct. That said, a good DV deck such as a Sony DSR-11 will make your life a whole lot easier in post than a cheap camcorder. They are quite slow to rewind and cue for one thing.... NoahUnlo
