Maybe just export a normal "same as source" QT out of FCP. Then open that Qt is QuickTime 7. You will be able to do QuickTime conversion from there - and it won't crash FCP because you will no longer

You might want to separate your reels, one for editor and one for dvd authoring as the skills are unique. Editing reels are so varied. If you do lots of narrative stuff you might want to slow it down

Matthew, Check out Other World Computing for hard drives. Very good price. Western Digital drives are even cheaper though some people don't trust them too much. RB
