Adjust clip gain or clip volume during FCPX edit, if ultimately mixing audio in Audition (or other DAW)?
by Matt Wilson 2 years ago
Hi all, I was hoping to get some advice from some veterans and those in the know! I'm editing a 2 hr film in FCPX and once the edit is done, I will be taking it into Adobe Audition for the audio mix.

I typically do all of my volume adjustments directly on the clips dragging the control over the waveform. However, I always reset all the audio levels to 0db before exporting role-based stems for impo

I m looking for a simple and inexpensive cloud task management software. Already tried Wrike, but for full project planning they require quite a big price for us. Is there a good option with similar f

We've been using Trello for a couple of years. It's a free tool (premium features are available but we've never needed them) that allows you to create and assign tasks. It's a life saver on our bigger
Multicam Editor Timecode Display in 10.3.2

I'm in the process of editing a multi-camera shoot from last weekend. I've discovered that the multicam editor now truncates the timecode of the source clips for each camera angle. I've tried switchin

Thanks for the reply Noah. I cycled through all the available resolutions for my monitor, and the timecode is still truncated. Just for grins and giggles, I also fired up the project on my Macbook Pro

We shoot almost everything in-house. We have a mix of Panasonic AVC-HD cameras (AC160A, HMC150s), a few GoPros and a Canon DSLR (T4i). We do a ton of multicam, and typically edit in ProRes. We get the
Dance Recitals Storing Original Footage
by Martin Verona 3 years ago
I have been shooting dance recitals for years. When I lose a client I usually hold onto the original footage for 2 years then I delete it. I keep the edited footage. This is beginning to get costly. H

I know what you mean Jeff. About 3 years ago, we went to a new media retention policy and I dumped raw footage going back to 1997. It was pretty painful to toss hundreds of tapes that represented my e
Tall tripods

I need to shoot footage that requires my camera to be above the average person's height so people don't pass in front of it when I'm shooting. Most of the video tripods I've seen are around 60" or so

I have two of these and they are great as long as you don't need to move around. With the center column, you can get up to almost 90", which is more than enough to get you over the crowds. http: www.m

I use Encore on my MacBook Pro running Yosemite with no issues. I never could get Premiere CC 2014 to run for more than 5 minutes without crashing, so beware of that. 2013 MacPro 6 core 3.5 gHz, 16GB
Areca 8050 Weird Problem
by John Rohrbach 5 years ago
Just had a minor personal panic: Areca 8050 disconnected itself, and when I restarted my 2013 iMac, the Areca just cycled through the drives with red and blue LEDs... and a hyphen on the LCD readout.

I had a similar issue with my 8050 right after I configured the drives and was starting to load data. After rebooting the system, the 8050 came right up, so I just assumed it was settling in. Did Arec

Thanks Dennis, I ran the Cleaner Tool, and then re-downloaded CC 2014. I was able to launch Premiere this time, but I'm getting a ton of beach balls, and I've now experienced several outright crashes.

No issues here on Mavericks, but I'm on a 2013 Mac Pro and can't install Snow Leopard. If you have the option, a Snow Leopard partition should be rock solid with FCP7. 2013 MacPro 6 core 3.5 gHz, 16GB

Best stabilizer plugin for Windows? NOT Warp Stabilizer

Warp Stabilizer is just too slow. I'd like another plugin that can work in the background and stabilize as I do other work on the timeline, but one that's faster and maybe even more effective than WS.

I really like CoreMelt's Lock and Load. I did a lot of side-by-side testing with Warp Stabilizer, and in most cases, Lock and Load was as good or better. They have a 15 day trial so you can play aroun
