Find global 3D position of a parented null
by Richard Frazer 9 years ago
Im trying to calculate the true 3D coordinates of a Null object in world space. Thing is, it's parented to another 3d object, so its actual "position" value that I can reference with an expression rem

Multiple instances of Particular effect on one layer

Im trying to get 2 separate sets of particles running alongside each other and interacting correctly in 3D space. Im creating a flowing ribbon effect using streaklets, but wanted a second, different c

unless particular 2.0 is different from 1.5 (the version i have), you'll need to get both 'emitters' into a single emitter or try aharon's method for each emitter (probably on separate layers) that he
Rotoscoping large scenes?
by John Frank 10 years ago
Hey, I've always wondered how they got effects composition behind large scenes where they can't use a green screen, such as a bridge or such so I recently saw this on studio daily http: www.studiodail

Im not aware of any quick way of doing this. I often have to push things further back in Z-space and then manually scale them to compensate. I guess you could write an Expression that scales them in r

Hi Sam Im not trying to use AE to edit the sequence - I am compositing a scene that has already been edited by our offline editor. The catch is that it's a fight scene, so it has lots and lots of cuts
Suffixes Appended in Compressor
by David Heidelberger 13 years ago
I've always sort of lived with this problem but it's causing more work for me now, so I thought I'd ask. Does anybody know if there's any way to NOT have Compressor append suffixes (like "MPEG-2 60min

I'd also like to know if anyone has a fix for this. It really does add quite a huge amount of unnecessary time when batching lots of files. it would seem crazy that there isn't a preference setting so
graduated effects from a feathered selection
by Richard Frazer 13 years ago
ok- this may take a little explaining, so please bear with me. there is a subtle difference between how photoshop and after effects apply effects, and i need to know if i can get round this. in photos

To control the size of the convolution kernel you have to use Compound Blur or similar third-party effects. Your assumption of Photoshop doing so is not correct. Even with a selection, all pixels are
