Not sure which keyer you are using but sometimes Edge Color Correction can help here. Also I sometimes pre process my green footage in a sub comp. I use Hue Saturation to boost only the green channel

Turns out the gel that had been on for a couple weeks did have a hard time pulling off and we had a bunch of small pieces we had to scrape off but everything worked out fine and the glass looks great.
