Delete selected markers
by Renny McCauley 4 years ago
Is there a way to delete a selection of markers quickly I don't want to delete one at a time, but I also don't want to delete all of the markers. Basically I'm splitting up a timeline with lots of mar
Canon 24-105 f/4 exposure drift on zoom
by Renny McCauley 4 years ago
When shooting video on the 5D Mark iii with the 24-105 f 4 lens, there is a very annoying issue. As you zoom in, the image will darken. The screen still shows the f-stop as the same setting but the im

Thanks for the reply Warren. I think it has to do with more than just the construction of the lens because of it's variation in behavior (eg it doesn't have the problem at 4.0 nor in stills mode). Som
Organization Events vs. Libraries

I'm editing a feature doc in FCPX with a lot of footage and materials. The film was started in Premiere, but we hit an unsolvable technical issue with Premiere and so we moved it to FCPX in a late rou

jkl behavior
by Renny McCauley 7 years ago
In FCP7 and Premiere if you push L several times, the playback speeds up and if you want to slow back down, you push J. That way you can continue to play the clip. But in FCPX if I push L several time

I thought FCP7 behaved that way, but maybe I'm remembering incorrectly. It works that way in Premiere anyways and I like it. Oh well.
The best way to sync two cameras and a separate audio source in Premiere CC
by Dan Nastro 7 years ago
For a project I'm working on I have takes from two Canon 5D's and 6 tracks of audio from an external source. My original plan was to Merge the Clips of audio to one of the angles then create a multica

If everything is synced, highlight the various angles, right click and choose "Nest." It will become one clip. Right click on this clip and choose "Multicam-Enable" Renny
Audio bug-audio not playing Pan set to "nan"
by Renny McCauley 7 years ago
I opened up my project this morning to discover that a good portion of the audio is not playing back properly. Some clips are playing back fine, but others don't make any sound. They have waveforms in
Match Frame behavior
by Renny McCauley 7 years ago
In FCP, I often edit b-roll without the audio. Then later, I'll use a match frame to retrieve the audio and edit it into the timeline. In FCP, when you do a match frame from the timeline, the master c

Premiere "offline" to "online" re-linking workflow
by Renny McCauley 7 years ago
I'm fairly new to Premiere and haven't quite figured out a good workflow for something that I did quite easily in FCP. I have a large project with over 100 hours of DSLR footage. I started the project

Accounting Software

I need to get organized. I've been doing freelance editing and camera work for a while, but in the last few years I've started to have more clients and more expenses. I've been doing my accounting on

Merging Clips with Unequal durations
by Renny McCauley 9 years ago
I am trying to merge some clips from a dual system shoot. I have a tricky section where the video continued shooting, but the audio turned off, then quickly back on. So I have short audio clips that I
Re: Merging Clips with Unequal durations
by Renny McCauley 9 years ago
Okay, I guess I figured it out. It just takes a slightly different workflow of dragging the clips to the browser to create a new master clip, then sub-clipping. Whereas files with equal duration can b

This is sort of annoying to ask, but I have a fcp project that I need to open in fcp 6, but apparently the project is from a newer version. Would somebody be willing to convert this project to an xml

Applying filter to entire master clip

This seems like the simplest question in the world, and yet I've been trying to work it out for an hour with no luck. I have a sequence edited together of a concert, from two cameras. One camera needs

Here's what you can do with multicam though. Run multi-cam like usual and then collapse the multi-clip once everything is tweaked. Click somewhere in the blank space of the timeline and type cmd-f. Ty
Using Nattress Film Effects

I'm interested in utilizing my Nattress Film Effects better. I'm just looking for a simple curves adjustment look. Nothing too fancy. I've been using my waveform more lately to keep from blowing out m

Graeme and Arnie: Thanks for the responses. It does seem like the proc amp is doing pretty much the same thing to the image as lowering the white output. Color correcting on the Nattress filter is not
timeline zoom behaving weirdly, any thoughts?
by Samuel Frazier 15 years ago
I've never had any consistent results trying to zoom in and out of the timeline in FCP (using opt - +). Sometimes it seems like it zooms in to the timeline curser, but if you zoom back out it wanders
Re: timeline zoom behaving weirdly, any thoughts?

One trick I do is zoom in as far as I think I need to be. Then I hit the space bar twice real quick. After it pauses playing, your playhead will be centered. Renny
