Openness between tools - waning?
by Oliver Peters 11 months ago
As each NLE becomes more full-featured in its own right, is open timeline exchange between different products going away or at least being de-emphasized FCPX only allows some exchange thanks to Intell

Outside of the timeline exchange idea, there's been real progress between say Office files elements and the Adobe products most of use. To be able to copy and paste (or in some cases just drag) an ico

Essential Graphics - Organizing folders
by Martin Gardiner 1 year ago
I can't figure out how to organize folders for the essential graphics, I watched a video on YT where he made folders in the library window and organized that way - but there's got to be an easy way to

So, here's how I do it. Let's say I grab a set of super sexy fur themed lower thirds from Motion Array. I unzip the download and rename the actual folder where the .mogrts live as "Furry 3rds". I do t

The Granny Smith Cultivar originated in Eastwood, New South Wales, Australia (now a suburb of Sydney) in 1868. Its discoverer, Maria Ann Smith, had emigrated to the district from Beckley, East Sussex

Right click on a clip in the Project Panel and choose properties and you'll get a pop up of everything you want to know about the clip and its proxy. Cheers!

Wacom users?
by Gabriel Regalbuto 8 years ago
I've been using a Wacom tablet exclusively for the last 4 years or so, as it sped up my editing and reduced fatigue in my right hand. It works great in FCP, and in AE, PS, and AI, but in PP it constan

Want to confirm which is the best approach for VOB files (deadline looming)

Just one thing to consider while putting together a workflow...make a copy of one of your .vob files and then change the extension to .mpg. You should be able to import it into PPro then, and you can

Age old question of how to export original source TC

Or mark everything exactly how you want it in Prelude as subclips and then sort by subclip, select them all and choose export media. You'll get all your selects, wherever you want them, with original

Markers or Metadata - The Debate!
by David Lawrence 3 years ago
One of FCPX's great strengths is its metadata-driven organizing tools. They're so good I've built logging workflows around them, even though I like cutting in Premiere Pro. But depending on your work

Actually you do get that behavior when adjusting the ins and outs for subclips and comment markers inside Prelude. I don't mark a thing inside PPro. I start every Adobe job in Prelude.

MacBook Pros "underpowered?" Not for FCP X editors. Not AT ALL.

I like to say I edit "with" a laptop, not "on" a laptop. I can go for days without ever opening my MBP. From the bag to the desk and then back to the bag. At the office or at home pretty much the same

Editing Mode & Preview File Format?

I'm the last guy on earth to switch from FCP to PP, and things are going reasonably well (my files are typically ProRes 1080p, or native 1080p files from a Canon C100 or 5D). But I'm baffled by the Ed

So pick any sequence you want and then change it. That's what you want to do. The relationship is that if the preview matches the source matches the output then things are really fast at time of outpu

Make the copies, transcode, make proxies (if you want) and rename from Prelude. So much easier. I like DNxHR and Cineform over QT these days, but that's mostly to stay cross-platform. If that's not an
