Honestly if you need to encode files you get what you pay for and Squeeze is a great encoder. If the quality of you encoded files is important then the investment is worth it. I'd go squeeze everyone.

Curved monitors give a distorted view because the camera has a flat sensor. To shoot for a curved screen you would need to shoot with a special lens. Curved displays are nothing less than a gimmick. P

If you use the framerate override in source settings it will play at the project frame rate so footage will slow down or speed up depending on what the fps was before. This is ok for say 24 to 25 fps

Resolve can't accept Avids Frame Flex. You can bake in the frame flex on Avid before sending. Or send a video guide and rebuild in Resolve by eye. Or just Grade in resolve and send the AAF back to Avi
