Not sure about doing anything from in Resolve, but it does sound like a job for FCP Media Manager... Just recompress the timeline you were trying to grade and reconnect via xml like you said...Should

And, for a sense of balance, a vote for the Avid Artist Color. That said, the Element looks great, but the price seems to be double that of the Avid (Euphonix) surface.

External monitoring in fcpx is not officially supported in snow leopard. Seems to require lion os hooks.
