Codec could not be opened-avid clip
by Monica Nolan 6 years ago
Hi, I'm having another codec problem. This is from the past. I am unable to open a .mov clip that I originally created in avid (not sure what version). I pulled the clip into an FCP project many years

Thanks for the quick response. I looked at the file in quicktime, did a restart, looked at it again in both QT and FCP. Still no picture. Now the QT info window says avid dv codec under format--I thin
Processing raw video
by Monica Nolan 7 years ago
Hi, I've been searching the Cow and haven't found anything helpful. My question may be too basic or in the wrong place or I dunno... I'm working on an indie doc. The director shot some footage on Supe

Brilliant! I downloaded the AJA mac QT codec v4.0 and was finally able to see an image. I'm converting the file to prores in Compressor and it seems to be working (although will probably take all day)
Getting the ProRes Codec
by Brian Garnell 12 years ago
Is buying Final Cut Pro the only way to get the ProRes codec Or by chance is Final Cut Express and Quicktime Pro enough Or by chance is there a secret codec somewhere that you can download

This didn't work for me. I keep getting the "codec not found" error message. I'm on OS 10.5.8, FCP 6.0.6. Is it possible I'm putting the .component files in the wrong folder I put them in, library qui
Seem to be missing ProRes LT
by Monica Nolan 8 years ago
I imported an xml file of an fcp 7.0 project and when I try to open the sequence, I get an error message: "codec not found you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card"

I'm getting the same message and HAVE FCP 7. Started a brand new project all other PRLT files are fine but I just did a screen record sent it to compressor to change to PRO RES LT like the rest of the
Trouble Importing XML File from FCP 7 into FCP 6.06
by Tahir Jetter 10 years ago
Hello, An editor gave me a project w corresponding media files that he'd worked on in FCP 7. I've upgraded to FCP 6.06. Knowing that he'd bring the project into FCP 7, he thought to export an xml file

This post was super-helpful to find. However, although I was able to finally get past the error messages and import the xml file, I seem to have only got part of it, one folder of master clips. When I
Fuzzy HD from Canon or transcoding?
by Monica Nolan 8 years ago
I am logging and transferring footage from a two camera shoot--canon 7d and canon 60d. The footage arrived on a drive and when I looked at the source files they were 1920x1080 h.264, square pixel, 29.
Re: Fuzzy HD from Canon or transcoding?

Still doesn't explain why the source file would look fuzzy when I opened it on my desktop in quicktime. a camera guy said something about Canon + motion + greenscreen having an issue but didn't elabor
Animating separate shapes on a single layer
by Monica Nolan 8 years ago
Hi--looked around and didn't see this topic, but I'm hoping somebody can help. I'm created six circles one shape layer. I animated them so each moves position and scales differently. Then I noticed th

Thanks much, that was it. I was assuming the diamond shaped keyframes meant I was in linear land, but I was only there temporally and not spatially.
Can't output HDTV 1080 comp--deadline approaching
by Monica Nolan 9 years ago
I've been trying to output a comp, and I get error messages and weird artifacting. The comp: HDTV 1080 square pixels, 29.97. It is slightly over a minute and is composed almost entirely of art produce

Here's what I ended up doing: going back to a 1280x720 comp and working in that for the back and forth with client. Pre-rendering that background and other subcomps was indeed key to being able to ram
AE error 44 : 39
by Jason Connolly 11 years ago
Hello, the COW- I am pulling my rapidly greying hair out. Out of nowhere, I keep getting this error when I want to render to an animation codec quicktime: After Effects error: CompressSequenceFrame()
Re: AE error 44 : 39
by Monica Nolan 9 years ago
I got this error message and I've isolated the source as a jpeg I was given to use as a background to the animation. Without the background, or with the old background (a smaller file) I can output 19
Changing Frame Size of Finished Animation
by Monica Nolan 9 years ago
I created an animation in AE CS4 using primarily photoshop & illustrator files and a little HD movie footage, 1920x1280 square 30fps. My comp settings were: 1280x720 square. I didn't get the output sp
Re: Changing Frame Size of Finished Animation

Wow--thank you, thank you. This worked like a charm. I'm working with nested comps, and I see the subcomps remain unaffected (still 1280x720). There's no reason to go in and scale up each comp individ
