Create matte from underlying transparency
by Mike Foran 2 months ago
I am looking for a way to create a matte from the combined transparency of the current layer and below. In essence, it would work like the "Preserve Underlying Transparency" switch on the timeline. Ho

That's a good thought, thanks. The matte is the thing though. There are so many other uses for it if I could create it.
Creating a long seamless panning sequence with over 50 clips?
by Max Monty 2 months ago
I want to film a bunch of locked down shots and have a fake camera slowly pan its positioning between each video clip. In the end, there may be about 40-50 different clips lined up next to each other-

I agree, that creating one huge video is going to be a memory and CPU disaster. Break the shot up into more manageable pieces and use a master null to pan them through the main comp. If your master nu
Convert increasing variable to looping variable
by Mike Foran 7 months ago
I'm trying to write an expression that converts a constantly increasing variable, like time, to a looping variable. Kind of like the 'linear' function but instead of clamping the value translation to

Getting position from first keyframe only
by Mike Foran 8 months ago
I would like the position of one layer to match the position of another layer's first motion path keyframe. So object A would remain in the same place that Object B started it's motion. Is there an ex

Toggle variable with time
by Mike Foran 1 year ago
I'm trying to build an expression that toggles a variable at 0 or 500 at time intervals. So for 3 seconds it's 0, then for 7 seconds it's 500, repeat... The reason for doing this is to try to get Part

Sorry I just re-read my original post and the script I provided didn't completely solve it. Here's a more detailed script that references two sliders named 'On and 'Off' that are on a controller null.
Display the name of the next visible layer below
by Mike Foran 2 years ago
Hello all, I am trying to figure a way to automatically display the name of the next visible layer below a text layer. I have figured out how to display the name of a layer directly below a text layer
Re: Display the name of the next visible layer below

I presume the "hasVideo" and "active" return a 1 if True, and Opacity anything over 0 would be visible, so if all three of those attributes are 0 then it sets the string to the name of the layer. Othe
Selecting frame of nested compositions with sliders
by Mike Foran 2 years ago
I am attempting to build a character rig where an animator can select frames of a pre-comped head with a slider. Within that head comp there is another precomp of a mouth, of which I also would like t
