Our 8Tb 24D Terrablock is 5 years old now. It has worked flawlessly and successfully recovered from drive failures, multiple times. I like that it s a low maintenance solution. File level was never an

After reading all of the negative reviews I'm glad I decided to wait to download FCPX, I think it has potential but I don't see it being ready for pros for a while. I work in Hollywood, and Final Cut

Wonder what they're saying in Cupertino...?

Unless Apple has unplugged themselves from the grid, they must have heard the resounding thud that FCP X's launch has produced, and must be able to hear the grumblings of the masses. I'm sure their co

I agree. This is why all of the ranting is necessary at this point. This could mean the future of not only Apple's market share, but the workflows for thousands of production houses all over the world

Well, maybe Apple learned from us better than we thought - only it's backwards. We're paying to polish their steaming heap. Gonna take more than a few cans of Simoniz to make this one gleam though...

How Important Is DeFragging?

Is defragging important for video editors I do it once in a blue moon on my regular computer. Just wondering how important it is for guys who edit a lot of video.
Re: How Important Is DeFragging?
by Mike Chapman 12 years ago
It's a dirty little secret that most shared-storage manufacturers introduce fragmentation to keep performance linear over the capacity of the drive. That's why it's usually not a good idea to defragme

What is taking so long?
by David Dobson 12 years ago
In both CS3 and CS4 - Premiere Pro - with a project with a lot of clips - HDV clips or DVCPro Clips - it is taking Premier Pro forever to become operable when you return to it from another application
Re: What is taking so long?

That's only partially correct. We have the same performance issues with Premiere, both CS3 and -4, with drives that are only half full. CS4 is better at regaining control after a switch in and out, bu

Well, that actually won't do it - XDCam isn't DV, it's MPEG. We actually monitor through a Sony deck when we're cutting HDV (as we have been up until now) but without an additional card in the PC (or
