1. Looks like it is one or the other according to the docs. 2. Scene detection can be a bit tricky but I did get a method working a while ago after some searching.... ffprobe -show_frames -f lavfi "mo
HANDY TIP: Using FFprobe for stream analysis
by Michael Rampe 7 years ago
HANDY TIP: You can easily extract bitrate data and frame types (I,P,B) using FFprobe. At the time of writing, FFprobe version SVN-r92, Copyright (c) 2007-2009 Stefano Sabatini works for frame analysis

Hi Dave, OK. I have created a replica of your file - 1 prores video track (stream 0:0) and 14 mono audio streams (streams 0:1 though 0:14) and one timecode track (stream 0:15). (NOTE: my audio was 16

The dreaded "Quicktime gamma bug" that has been identified for several years but not entirely solved. It sucks. Technically speaking, the gamma bug is due to the use of the +dct8x8 flag in the encode

Re: MPEG1 question

mpeg 1 works in ffmpeg with whatever size you give it. % ffmpeg -i fluid.mov -sameq intermediate.mpg A 1024x576 frame size came out at 8 Mbps and looks stunning. It is especially useful as a high qual
outputting AVI's that are too big
by John Graves 8 years ago
I seldom output SD video files for use on another edit system. In this case I digitized some camera footage at about 5M per second and now about 23 mins of footage is on my timeline. No problem there.
Re: outputting AVI's that are too big

It is not the avi container that is the problem, it is the DV codec. The DV codec is locked to 25 Mbits s which equates to 13GB hour. The quality slider has no effect whatsoever on DV streams. I am gu

I managed to replicate the issue with both DV and HDV. The output from the blackmagic card in NTSC and PAL match the output in DV PAL and HDV PAL. The output from DV NTSC and HDV NTSC are MUCH darker
