Just in case you missed it elsewhere, Canon has new firmware for the 7D. Not huge for video, but finally manual audio levels (but no meters, and not adjustable while recording). Still better. http: ww

I've installed this firmware and have not had any issues. It all went smoothly. Great photographic firmware but lean pickings for us filmmakers. Having said that audio control is pretty big.
