I'm sorry but this is a no brainer. If you are shooting news and run & gun stuff then hands down the NX5 is the best option. Not having built-in ND filters will make your life MISERABLE shooting news

Good camera if you don't already own the NX5. However, no HD-SDI and not being able to use the FMU128 flash drive I already own means its not worth moving from my NX5 to the NX3.

The NX5U and the AX2000 do NOT run on the same software firmware. While the NX5 can handle 64GB cards, the AX2000 can only handle cards up to 32GB. There's a reason why the NX5 costs more.

I would NOT trust mounting an HPX370 in a vertical position using a quick release plate. I certainly wouldn't do it with some rigged up system. I suggest trying to get a smaller camera such as an HPX2

I hope you're right but I know of many if the higher end production companies that produce well known tv programs are STILL shooting on tape (HDCAM and DVCProHD) are stubborn about even going tapeless

EX3 only shoots HD. HD is 16x9 only. So, no, you can't shoot 4x3 with the EX3. You'll have to convert and export 4x3 SD on post.

There's really no reason why you shouldn't be able to open and convert the four good clips in Streamclip. Another possibility is to upload each of the four clips to YouTube and see it it converts it.

Two things here. One, copy the cards (BPAV Files) to a hard drive. They should have no problem using those. Also, in FCP7, you can import using Log & Transfer and the clips should import, transcoding

Shahinian Insurance does single day coverage for about $100. Don't have there number on hand but I use them when insurance is a must. Just got 3 days insurance for $125.
