Duplicating sequences without duplicating nested sequences in them
by Micah Haun 9 years ago
I am working on something that is audio only. There's a lot of versioning and re-use of sections of it, so I decided to use FCP instead of an audio program for this because I can nest sequences in FCP

Is there a way to edit from the bin using keystrokes, like in Avid Click and drag is such a slow clunky way to bring something into the timeline.

Doesn't automatic duck let you bring in media as well Particularly since you're dealing with uncompressed audio, you aren't going to lose quality by bringing it in this way. if this is not an option,
File vs Tape origin

I posted a few weeks ago about setting a clip's origin as file rather than tape based. I think it was moved to basic, and shouldn't have been. No matter. Importing media using log and transfer will ta

May I try to elaborate on this point, as I think I'm having the same issue. We have a number of reels that are file based. Someone went through and logged the footage into smaller, individual clips. W
Changing a clip from Tape to File based source
by Micah Haun 9 years ago
I've recently discovered that RED footage imported with log&transfer will register as file based and can be 'batch captured' again to do a high-res. It understands that these clips did not originate f

This seems to have been moved to basic by an admin. It does not belong in basic as it is not a basic question.

Try exporting as an XML and opening that into FCP. This can sometimes be used to move FCP projects to older versions so it may work for FCPe.

Just do a quicktime conversion. Nesting into an SD timeline seems like the way to go for doing everything in FCP, but it looks terrible. Quicktime will do a very good (for software) conversion. I rare

Instead of using position.speed, you can use position.velocity which is a dim-3 array containing the velocity components of the x,y,z direction. Xinlai Ni Software Engineer, Google Inc.

I've gone back and forth on AVID codecs from after effects. It's nice that things import faster, but if you'll ever take the project somewhere else to work or finish, you'll need to rerender or transc

I can recreate this in MC 3.5.4. Seems like a bug. New features tend to frown upon A3+ (like AMA audio). I tried throwing the effect on a higher video track just for fun (V3+) and to the actual audio
