Dropping them into a single comp definitely WILL cause a problem, not sure what he means by that.. Best bet is to create separate comps for the different frame rates and then inside the 29.97 comp, go

I'll assume the two comps are precisely the same duration. This shouldn't be an issue. Just nest the 30 comp with the audio inside the 24 comp with the video. No other adjustments should be necessary.

Why not just make everything 3D FWIW, finding a particular location on a mask path is not something that could be done by an expression, and to do it with a script you would have to know the math that
