You could do this with 'type on a path' and chose a ding bat style font with a suitable dot. Then animate the opacity and set it to let the dots come on randomly. Add as many paths text layers as need

Toast 10 transcodes very well AVCHD files to any Quicktime codec you've got installed. It's one of the fastest as well. And includes a video player that plays the AVCHD files from my Lumix GH1 flawles

Well, I cloned my entire system drive for backup with SuperDuper and upgraded to 10.5.2, QT 7.4.1 and the Leopard Graphic Update yesterday. So far all things seem to work, can capture and view in FCP
