It is possible that the previous LTFS install is the issue. Quit YoYotta and then in the Finder select and delete the ICU, OSXFUSE and LTFS frameworks. Their location is shown in the attached screensh

"Reduces the tape life by half" must be assuming a completely different workflow, where you rewrite and verify tapes many times with new data. Performing a verify means you can only do this 4000 times
