Normally I would say it _is_ a bad idea to rename camera files, but that's why I qualified my remark to include a) unless you have duplicate file names and b) you do this before editing has started. F

Contrast is also a matter of MIDTONES, so it's not just the blacks per se: it's your overall perception of contrast in the entire image. You can make an image look more contrasty by peaking the whites

Renaming clips at the file level is an absolute no no once editing has started. If you wish to rename there are plenty of batch renamers out there but once you start to edit, do not change file names.

720 x 576 is 4:3SD PAL ans is an export option. You are trying to make a 4:3 HD resolution which is non standard.

This works as expected in DR16 beta 3. Set an in and out and just do a normal copy and paste between timelines. I don't have DR15 installed any more to test but if it doesn't work there then the alter

Video Levels vs. RGB. Read all about it. Range issue. Gamma is not involved. Look at your signal measurements. If all that is reported is "gee it looks darker", then you haven't looked at your levels.

Best audio is the industry standard 24 bit 48khz wav or broadcast wav. Recorders and software systems that can record timecode, create broadcast wavs.

Trying to cross colorspaces (especially with a relatively consumer-level setup) is always going to be a simulation, as Tero alludes. Disregard the DCI-P3 colorspace for your grade. WHAAAAAAAAT! ! ! !

Well, you could conceivably do your entire edit, color-correction, and finish in Resolve. Simple VFX can work fine. If you had a shot here or there that needed complex effects, you could always export
