Avi is but a wrapper. If the avi is H.264 then you have to convert it into something Premiere understands. Run your file through Mediainfo and see what codec is inside. http: mediainfo.sourceforge.net

If you can import the old m2v files from those other projects into a new project without issues, but you cannot import the new m2v files, then there is likely something wrong with the way you encoded
