thanks for the reply, I'll keep my old OS on the current SSD, I was just interested if there's any possibility that for example my software RAID0 will disappear on Yosemite..that would suck.
MXF trimming not working?
by Laco Gaal 5 years ago

color management not effecting output?

I've read a lot about colour management in AE (and read a lot of posts of Walter Soyka), but still can't figure it out. Before now I primarily worked with video footage, colour management turned off,

Walter, thanks a lot for your replies. You were right. The problem lied elsewhere (my display is a wide gamut display so that's why in any unmanaged apps the reds were crazy), but figured out. thanks
GPU Acceleration in old Mac Pro vs new iMac
by Pieter Viljoen 5 years ago
Hi everyone, I've got a question about speed. We have 16 shoots coming in over the next month with about 18-20hrs of GoPro 5D. We're transcoding in Resolve, making new ProRes masters, then transcoding
Re: GPU Acceleration in old Mac Pro vs new iMac

also if I understand it correctly you're transcoding twice. I'd convert to DNxHD 120, edit it in AVID, and use them as master files (go pro, and 5D nitrates are lower than 120mbit s)
Low quality mode?

Hey guys, just started using davinci and am wanting to do a quick grade on something in 1080p. I notice that the footage is being displayed within davinci in some kind of subtly lower-res quality mode

Please read the configuration guide, you're not using an external monitor until you play out the video through a BM video card.

Jon, thanks for the reply. I've tried to contact Areca support, but no answer until now. Even though the 1680 is an old card I think it should handle this one simple raid set just fine.

16 disk RAID - what kind of controller?

Re: 16 disk RAID - what kind of controller?

Not with four external "wide" 4-lane ports, to my knowledge. You could get a ARC-1882-ix-16 or a -24 (with one external 4-lane "wide" port and four or six external ones) and re-route the internal ones
