Cineform GPU acceleration via PP
by Ken Eakins 3 years ago
Hi all, I've always stuck with DnX and Prores for offline work, but I'm seeing more and more people post online that Cineform is actually a decent way to go. According to a few posts I've now read, Ci

The CPU plays back the video files. The GPU handles the special effects (most of them). Having said that the Cineform codec should work OK.

Robert, could you point to a tutorial on this I'm having a hell of time getting FS7 rushes into MC, and would love a nice Resolve roundtrip. The only roundtrips I can find start with Avid, which is no
Premiere Pro CC versus FCP X
by Oliver Peters 5 years ago
I've noticed that some here have made a transition from FCP "legacy" to Premiere Pro and now to FCP X. Many first shifted to Premiere Pro out of the reaction to FCP X's early stages. Out of curiosity,

"Requires the cloud" That's funny, I use it on location all the time without 'the cloud'. Doesn't FCP require 'the cloud' to get its updates as well
Automating a split clip strobe effect
by Ken Eakins 6 years ago
Hi all, I've been asked by my director to create the 3-clip split effect. I don't know the 'proper' term for this effect, but I know it can be done manually by cutting every x amount of frames, and ad

how to copy an event from Macintosh HD to a scratch disk?

Hi, so this is a bit of a weird question, so bear with me on this one. I'm syncing footage from three cameras in Plural Eyes 3, and then exporting out to Final Cut X. However, when I export from Plura

When you open FCP you should see the connected scratch disk. Then you pull the event icon from your internal drive to the scratch disk icon. FCP will ask you for a new name, when its done duplicating

Rigging a Beachtek DXA-2T so it can be monitored?
by Ken Eakins 8 years ago
Hi guys, This is driving me mad. I hate using on-camera recording, even on our Z1s, but for run and gun stuff that we have to occasionally do on our DSLRs, it's a necessary evil. I have a Beachtek DXA

Weird kerning issue with the 550D

You're looking in the wrong menu I think. I have a 550, which is the same video res quality as a 7D, and it doesn't have the option to shoot raw (the Canon codec doesn't allow it I don't think). A jpe

I would highly recommend getting the 'nifty fifty' (50mm f1.8) lens as a prime starter. although it's one of Canon's cheaper lenses, it's very fast, and a great introduction to shooting with primes.

The reason I was wondering is the z1 can have a hard time playing back 1080p if the its wrong type, your PC should be able to capture HDV with no problems, are you capturing to a dedicated video drive
