Sounds like he color graded the shots in DaVinci. The original ungraded shot is there underneath if you need to make changes. You can enable disable clips by right-clicking on them and toggling Enable

Sounds like you solved this, but I was able to fix it without plugins recently just using the Lumetri color panel. If you go to the new Hue Saturation Curves you have the ability to sample the splotch

Usually when creating a TIFF file you are given the choice of PC or Mac byte order. Perhaps the Linux version can only read PC byte order (or vice versa, less likely).

The 2017 Screenshot uses the GoPro Cineform codec. The 2018 Screenshot is using H.264, which I believe does not support that many audio channels

As a test, run it through compressor, as ProRes HQ. I have a feeling that third party software is using a hacked reverse engineered ProRes Codec and Cinema Tools is balking.
