It probably can be done in X-Particles, but if I were tasked with creating this, I'd look into using Trapcode Form as another option if you're familiar with After Effects.

The Animation codec only supports 8-bit color space. Use ProRes 422 or 444 instead; these support 10-bit color space.

Herb, No need to upgrade for this feature. It's available right now in all CC Premiere versions. *Edit* CC2015 doesn't have to import the assets, other versions do.

Make sure your FCP project isn't larger than 100MB. If it is, delete some unused sequences and media from your project. Other causes: mp4 or h.264 footage anywhere in you timeline. Stills in CMYK colo

Quick note, Cinema Tools only works on full frame media like ProRes. XDCam, h.264, ect will not work in Cinema Tools. If you must conform and transcode, Compressor can do this in one step.

Go into Preferences Import and make sure the "Sequence Footage" is the same as your timeline's framerate. Or you select your imported sequence and go into "Interpret Footage Main and manually conform

The F55 is a Sony camera, so Panasonic won't be of any help. FCP7 does not work with XAVC at all. You'll need a converter to encode the footage to ProRes.

I haven't work in Media Composer since 1999, but I assume the CC tools haven't changed much. I really like Colorista II's power mask, secondary and master HSL tool. I assume Avid doesn't have these.

Noise will help blend the gradients together, but it require too much "noise". You also may want to have a look at "Magic Bullet DeNoiser".
