Thanks. Is 10.6.8 snow lep. In settings I have gama correction set to 'accurate' but other than this don't know how to adjust the canvas gamma.

Any capture card that can handle NTSC (analog) should be able to handle NTSC-J, simply the the black level is different and you'll want to set it appropriately on capture. http: en.wikipedia.org wiki
