10.4.4 and AVCHD
by Jeffrey Carter 10 months ago
I updated to Mojave and FCPX 10.4.4 It will no longer import AVCHD files from my C100. Also Compressor does not recognize AVCHD files to convert. I have to use QuickTime to export each clip. Has Apple

Thanks for all the posts. It looks like the import box defaulted to 'photos' instead of 'video'. Never noticed that. It's a case of if your computer doesn't turn on, immediately tear apart the motherb
How are we all getting on with 10.4?
by Steve Connor 2 years ago
It certainly seems faster to me in day to day operations, I love the new CC controls, but I'm getting occasional crashes when I use them and I even had a kernel panic yesterday, something I haven't ha

I am also on 10.12.6, and getting constant crashes with layered PSD files. They are completely unusable. Maybe that compound clip problem you're having... Only workaround is to use JPG's. Anyone else
C100 not recoding 24p
by Jeffrey Carter 3 years ago
I know the C100 (Mark I) does not record true 24p (23.976) but interprets the file. In the past, when I selected 24p, either Premiere or FCPX would recognize the file as 24p (23.976) and everything wo

Even after updates, the problem still exists on my system. I really like the cloud autosave feature and it totally saved me when I had a hard drive failure once. My solution was, in your project set t

Can I inport AVCHD from Canon C100 directly into X?
by Ned Miller 5 years ago
I am new to X and AVCHD, been importing with no problem I can see. However, I've read that some editors rewrap using Clip Wrap and other programs before importing. I own Clip Wrap and TurboH264, what
Re: Can I inport AVCHD from Canon C100 directly into X?
by Jeffrey Carter 5 years ago
I have found that it is better to either create an archive from the SD card first, then import from that or use FCPX to import directly from the card. If you copy the SD card to a folder on a drive us
Missing Waveforms in the timeline

I have a timeline that has a combination of music, audio, normal clips, and multicam clips with synced audio. I've noticed this on a few occasions on some recent projects, but sometimes the Multicam C
Re: Missing Waveforms in the timeline

I had the same problem where I would see waveforms of other clips, but not the multi cam clips. I solved it by right clicking on the audio and selecting multicam enable. The waveforms suddenly show up
New LUT option in 10.1.2 disappears
by Jeffrey Carter 5 years ago
FCPX 10.1.2 has added a LUT option to apply to clips. I'm shooting with a Canon C100. When I don't shoot in C-log the option appears and I can add it to a clip. I shot some footage in C-log and the LU
Re: New LUT option in 10.1.2 disappears

Are the clips in the timeline or the browser As the LUT is a universal setting, meaning, once it's on for the clip, it's on for every instance of the clip everywhere, you should turn it on and off in
Workflow query: Importing C100 into either Adobe Premier Pro or FCP X

Re: Workflow query: Importing C100 into either Adobe Premier Pro or FCP X

I use the C100 with FCPX, and haven't had any problems. On import, it rewraps the footage so you can view it natively on the Mac. No quality loss as it's using the original media. I've only expermente
C100 or C300

Re: C100 or C300

I have a C100 and love it. It will not be 'better' than a C300, no matter what - but Paul Joy (http: www.pauljoy.com) has both cameras and essentially said they are the same when recorded to a Ninja.

Compare Canon 5D Mark3 vs Canon C100
by Kevin Schwarzenberger 6 years ago
Curious if anyone has any input on comparing the quality of video the C100 brings to the table vs the 5D.
Re: Compare Canon 5D Mark3 vs Canon C100
by Jeffrey Carter 6 years ago
The C100 has way better dynamic range and is sharper than the 5D mkIII. Now that they dropped the price to $4,999 it's a better deal (although more costly than a 5D). The great thing about this camera
frame rates for C100 & C300 shooting together
by Jeffrey Carter 6 years ago
I will be using a C100 as a B camera to a C300 on an upcoming shoot. Since the C100's 24pf is in a 60i stream, and only 24p is really progressive - which setting on the C300 should I use I've read on
Re: frame rates for C100 & C300 shooting together

Thanks! Everything I do is for web or broadcast anyways. I'm surprised they have a 'true 24' setting - I guess that was their push for cinema - although if going that route a C500 at 2K or 4K seems be

There is a lot to FCPX that unfortunately just poking around it won't reveal. It definitely is NOT intuitive to an editor used to FCP 7, Avid, etc. When the program first came out and I tried to edit

Re: drop zone turns video to still

Yes. If I create an "effect template" it has a placeholder that works, and I can add additional drop zones. In FCPX, I drop the 'effect' onto a video source and that becomes drop zone 1, but additiona

That would be best. A lot of newer mic sets have stereo 1 8" jacks for balanced audio out, using a stereo 1 8 to XLR cable.

Hard to tell if it's grain or compression artifacts. The camera in general is 'noisy', 1 4 inch chips are noisier than 2 3 inch. You can look at a daytime video I shot and compare it to your original
