How do you combine paint strokes?
by Jeff Rouric 2 years ago
I'm trying to make a logo with tendrils animate so those tendrils grow out. I'm taking the eraser tool and animating my erasing the tendrils backward to do that, but it'd be nice if there was a way to

After Effects CC 2014 Hi, I'm trying to do a lip sync for a character. It's taking a really long time and I figured I'd come here to see if I was ignoring a faster way or something. Ok, so my characte

Is there a way to "backtrace" what a slider is connected to in expressions?
by Jeff Rouric 4 years ago
Let's say I was working with an AE project I either made a long time ago and forgot how it works, or someone else's work. There's a bunch of sliders that control things in one "Controller" null, and a

Aww oh well. Well I did figure out that EE shows only expressions so you could at least speed up the process by opening every precomp and selecting all and hitting EE to see where the expressions go.
Combining keylight matte (static) with white solid mask (parented). How can you do this?
by Jeff Rouric 4 years ago
I'm very tired so this will be short. I have a shot on the bus of a sign. I want to put text in the sign but a yellow pole is in the way. I could use the rotobrush but I want to practice alpha matting

Wait, yeah, expressions, that's it! Ok so I figured out that if you use an expression to parent instead of just the pickwhip... myParent = thisComp.layer("Null 1"); myProp = myParent.transform.positio
Where do you install third party plugins/transitions? (Mac, CC)

I can't find the folder that you put files in to load into Premiere. I'm trying to get Too Much Too Soon filters to work, I've downloaded the txt files that appear to be scripts, but I can't figure ou
Multicam labels: Can you have the multicam sequence show the inner clips label colors?
by Jeff Rouric 4 years ago
So far I'm loving Premiere CC, coming over from FCP7. I'm still in the process of learning it, but so far its audio syncing capabilities are very promising for me. However, two things 1: When I make a

I guess I jumped on the bandwagon too late, speech analysis is gone. Can someone who's actually used this feature tell me if it worked well and what the alternatives are now?
by Jeff Rouric 4 years ago
Hi, I'm migrating from FCP7 to Premiere CC, so far it seems friendly enough, but I've been told that it had a speech analysis script sync (like Avid) feature and that sent me over the top. No more tra

Ohhhh....so it was THAT accurate...ok now I understand why it was removed, I guess I'm not missing much. Thanks.
FCP7 Multicam Bug (not switching angles where it did before)
by Jeff Rouric 4 years ago
Hi, so I realize FCP7 is no longer supported by Apple, but I figured I'd come in here and see if anyone's run into this before and how to possibly fix it. So I'm editing a HUGE (2 hour) sequence full

Serious Multiclip Issue - General Memory Error - Clip disappears from browser
by Jeff Rouric 6 years ago
Hi, I'm trying to make a series of multiclips to use in my timeline in FCP 7, and it's been working so far, using the in points to connect them. But now after making like 3, I'm starting to get a bad

Hey Nick, no worries, native format is not H264, thank god. I just converted to 640x480 h264 for a proxy format, one that can be edited with little file size impact. It's what I always do. Then once t
Is this audio fixable whatsoever? What precautions should be taken in the future?
by Jeff Rouric 6 years ago
So I have this client who recorded a live version of Thrift Shop. He asked if someone could fix the bass parts of the audio so he could use it. I volunteered, but asked to have a listen to the audio f

There's nothing you can do to fix this. This isn't a bass problem but a poorly recorded original. He should plug into the board and make sure that he's not peaking. Best, Jeff I. Greenberg Author Mast

Hi Jimmy, I think you can do this by having the browser as the active window and then hit Cmd F, which opens the Find dialog where you can search for clips with certain text elements. You can even spe
