Why use megui h264 Just use After Effects to export to 50 or 100mbit mpeg2 and upload that. With all the advanced options, megui all too often creates streams that not all converters are able to read

Dear all, until recently I have only ever had to ocasionally deal with cleaning up editing short clips shot on 16mm or the odd bit of 8mm (believe it or not some people are still shooting single8 to g

If you look down the posts in this forum you'll see I had some posts about it, but in a nutshell, it seems Blackmagic hasn't spend much time with it, and yes, it's linux, which means you'll probably h
Blur filter when resizing from HD to PAL? (Canon 5D footage).
by Xavier de Champs 9 years ago
Hi. I have some 5D footage in ProRes 422. Editing in FCP in HD. Finished edit is then resized to AVI DV-PAL format. And that's when I see jagged lines and moirae popping up. I can not see these things
Re: Blur filter when resizing from HD to PAL? (Canon 5D footage).

This is a problem I have run into before too when something has been filmed in HD and the output needs to be 720x576 PAL. I don't feel that FCP is as good as it could be at resizing. On a PC, Premiere

How long do you want the final sequence to be. If it is 60s, then you need 60 * 24 = 1440 frames. Over 100 hours that comes out at 14 an hour at an absolute minimum. Talking from experience, more is b
Best method to white balance DSLR cameras?

Hi, I must admit that I have my DSLRs set to Auto White Balance (AWB) probably a bit too often... shame on me ;-( Instead, proper camerawork would require you to white balance frequently... but what i

Get it right when shooting, don't try and fix it in post is my top tip. I have a very simple (cheap) method that works very well for me that I use most of the time as I am not bothered if I loose it w
Buying Mac Pro - what specs for editing hd video?

I agree, I can't see any major updates to FCP untill 2011 either (maybe even late 2011), I would like to be proved wrong on this though! Maybe the FCP team have been too busy playing on their iPads re

I should have been more clear, I meant an HDV camera in my post, not HDV codec on an EX-3.

That is good news, well done Cannon! One question, what about the bitrates I think I am right in saying that it was previously c43MBit @ 1080p30, or something like that. What happens when you use 1080

Thanks for the info Daniel. I did wonder, so far I have been quite impressed with H.264 from QuickTime and seems like a good option for sending files to clients who have file size limits etc. I have d

Re: 1080p or 720p video format for a PAL DVD project?

I have done it both ways, and unless you want some extra work, go with 720p50. If you use 1080i25 you are best off using motion estimation to recreate 1080p50 then downcovert that to SD, it works well
Where does 5D video fit in broadcast spec?

S-log gives a theoretical 1 stop advantage over the Sony Hypergammas. It's certainly a desirable advantage, but very few people are really going make use of it. The majority of lower end camcorder use

One assumes he is talking about sensor size, as many broadcasters (e.g. BBC for example) are not happy with you using cameras that have an image sensor that are under " for capturing HD these days (pl
Is Blu Ray dead in the water?

Re: Is Blu Ray dead in the water?

My big concern is compatibility from a personal point of view. If I shoot a video, and put a rough demo of it on a DVD-R at the request of a client, I can be nearly 100% sure that they will be able to
