Thanks for clarifying. Is it too much to ask for a date estimate for when we may see the next firmware update

SDI Triggered Recording

Trying to put the Ki Pro through its paces and I think I am not finding the information I need in manual or it is not currently supported. I thought recording could be triggered on the Ki Pro as soon

As a follow up to my original question and concern, AJA has introduced start stop record based on time code transmission through source SDI signal in their latest firmware update.
Far from cutting edge
by Chemix Ferreiro 10 years ago
My studio setup is far from cutting edge, I know. Dual 2.3 G5, XServe RAID, Kona2, FCS2, After Effects... My field gear is not the hottest, I also know. Sony Z1 HDV, MINI35 lens adapter, Carl Zeiss &

It's hard to say. The ProRes codec is great but it doesn't save you from garbage-in, garbage-out. I would run a test by capturing directly into your computer from the camera through your Kona card. Yo

Blurry Video DVDs

Re: Blurry Video DVDs

DVDs are standard definition. Your computer's display is at least two to three times as high in resolution so every pixel needs to be doubled or tripled (or worse) in size. Select 'actual size' in the
Ki Pro in 24p
by Blase Theodore 10 years ago
I'm using a Ki Pro for the first time and I'm feeding it a 24p signal which its reading as a 30i signal and recording as 30psf I guess this is the old workaround where we record 24p to a 60i codec Or
Re: Ki Pro in 24p

I had that problem as well. The camera was set to record 1080psf23.98, but the SDI output only does 29.97, so that's what the Ki Pro saw. I verified to make sure it wasn't the Ki Pro's fault by sendin
ProRes 4444 vs. AJA Uncompressed 8 bit

Re: One of disk damage into RAID cannot capture???

Not an option in my opinion. With a drive down in a RAID 5 it is only usable in a degraded state which means it's incredibly slow since the RAID controller is building the missing info on the fly. In

The reason why it's roughly the same speed of RT as ProRes is because it is ProRes. Final Cut now knows how to play back the clips in the timeline, but any changes will be rendered out in ProRes since

If switching to 8 bit rendering didn't help solve your issue, probably the only other option is running it on a computer with a 512MB (minimum) graphics card. iMacs are terribad for FCP work.

On a simple level, I still recommend the HV series of Canon cameras. I know most don't find HDV to be that sexy, but it has two nice advantages: it can be cut natively without transcoding, and you hav
