I'm trying to compress video shot with a Canon 5d down under 2 gb to send through an FTP site. The problem is with all the compression types I've tried, I get what appear to be interlace lines on all

It's all prog. I even tried to switch settings with top first and bottom first just to see.. no change.
Reconnecting media

Like an idiot, I mistakenly unplugged the external drive with the project media on it just before I shut FCP down. I go to open it back up and it did not automatically find the media and I can find no

by Graham Dickinson 7 years ago
Im trying to get some HDV footage from a Sony Z1U into FCP 7 because FCP X makes the footage look terrible and I don't know why. Anyway, what settings do I need to capture the footage on 7 The ingest

Hi I've had the same with the same camera. In the menu, there is also an iLink downconvert setting. Check that out, in my case it solved the problem. (What it does is downconvert the HDV stream to DV.
Z1U HDV footage soft in FCPX?
by Graham Dickinson 7 years ago
The last two projects I imported from the Sony Z1U have been blurry with jagged edges in FCPX. I'm ingesting at 1080 60. In the preview window its looks clean and sharp when ingesting, but when its do

ON my system system some HDV frankly looks pretty nasty in FCP X when viewing in "Better Performance". Can you see if it improves with "High Quality" Of course that doesn't answer why it looks poor in
Real time to Time lapse

Anybody know how to drop frames in 7 or X to create time lapse Thanks!
Re: Real time to Time lapse

Thanks to you both! I no longer have AE. There is no way in FCX7 or X to do it besides going in and manually blading the frames out
Dropping Frames for time lapse

I will be shooting on P2 next week and to save time I want to shoot in real time then turn the footage into time lapse later in post. Does any know if FCP7 or X will drop frames to turn real time into

If you are filming in real time and then speeding it up, frames HAVE to be dropped. Frames per second is a constant in your video project. If you want to fit 100 frames inside 1 sec of a 30fps project
Color bars?
by Graham Dickinson 8 years ago
Did Apple not include bars and tone on fcpx If they are in the program can anybody tell me where to find them
Re: Color bars?
by Garrett Robinson 6 years ago
I've never had anyone ask me for bars and tone and yet I use them all the time. They're my go-to "in-between" blips for gag and blooper reels. Of all the ridiculous applications...and yet I go to them
FCPX stabile clip
by Graham Dickinson 8 years ago
I need a clip I shot hand held to be stabilized. FCP 7 had a feature that smoothed it out so well you would swear it was on sticks. I'm trying to do the same thing with the same clip in FCPX. Does any
Re: FCPX stabile clip

Shouldn't have to do that even! There is an option under the "inspector" to click for analyzing and stabilization (even a box for rolling shutter) You can do this on import, or after-the-fact, if you

I have a client that I would like to sell on shooting HD from here on out, the only problem is.. for now, they still need 4:3 as their finished product. The reason we are considering HD 16:9 is so tha

Hi Graham. The Z1U has viefinder marks indicating the 4x3 setting even when shooting HDV. The media100 can digitize the HDV footage at HD settings, you do your edit in HD then output to 4x3 in several

I've edited my piece (10 mins) Iin HDV 1080 60. It exports to quicktime just fine, full frame 16:9. When I use iDVD to burn it with a menu, it cuts off part of the frame. This may be a dumb question b

The sequence is all HDV 1080 60. Sounds like I just better get used to the lengthy burn time with that share feature. Thanks to you both, very helpful!

I've never had a problem with a client playing an Mpeg1. However, I like the quality and smaller file size on an H.264. If it is ever to big for e-mail you can send up to 100mb per e-mail for free wit
